Sky Sports could lose La Liga rights after £18m-a-year TV bid is rejected

SKY TV could lose La Liga coverage for next season.

Bosses at the broadcaster are playing hard-ball with the league on the £18million deal, and look unlikely to pay much more.

There has been a deal in place between the two parties for over two decades.

The Mail are reporting that “pundits on Sky’s La Liga coverage are exploring other opportunities because they fear the contract will not be extended”.

Three years ago BT Sport looked like they had stolen a march on Sky for La Liga rights.

But Sky, still reeling from losing Champions League games, raised their offer to £18m and won the deal.

However BT may get the chance of revenge and win La Liga rights for next season, despite the broadcaster still needing to renew the contracts for French and Italian football.

Sky are yet to comment on a prospective deal.
