The 53-year-old competed as an Independent Olympic Athlete because his native Kuwait Olympic Committee has been suspended,

So without a national uniform, Rashidi wore an Arsenal jersey for the competition.

But when asked if he was a supporter of the aptly-named English Premier Leaguers, he admitted: “I don’t know, I just bought it.”

Al-Rashidi beat Ukrainian Mikola Milchev 16-14 to take third place.
