RUSSIA plan on making World Cup 2018 the best one yet – by having it’s potential mascot ‘Bonk’ lead the celebrations.
On Friday night, three proposed mascots were projected onto the Lomonosov Moscow State University during the city’s annual ‘Circle of Light’ International Festival.

Bonk, a cheeky looking wolf, is up against Kot the cat and Tигp (pronounced ‘Tegr’) the tiger to represent Russia at the World Cup.
Immediately following the candidates’ unveiling, an online vote was made available for Russian fans to have their say.
The votes will be counted on live TV on October 21.

Fifa Secretary General Fatma Samoura said: “It is the most interactive Fifa World Cup brand creation so far.
“From the very start, we invited the Russian public to have a say on the preferred character types, later encouraging local talent to participate in submitting designs. Today, we are again inviting them to cast their vote and decide which one should become the Official Mascot of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.”
