Ronald Koeman tweets his joy at old club Southampton losing EFL Cup final

RONALD KOEMAN tweeted his job after old club Southampton’s last-gasp EFL Cup final agony.

The Everton boss knows Manchester United‘s 3-2 victory at Wembley boosts the Toffees’ hopes of qualifying for the Europa Cup.

Whoever comes sixth in the Premier League will now enter Europe – as long as United climb from that position to finish in the top five.

Everton are seventh, four points behind United and five adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool.

And Koeman’s sympathy for an impressive Saints‘ performance was clearly overshadowed by his delight at United’s win edging the Toffees closer to Europe.

The Dutchman tweeted: “The best result for @Everton.. 7th place Europe @SouthamptonFC can be proud!”

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho must hope he can upgrade his first trophy as United boss into a top-four Prem finish.

United’s below-par Wembley display contrasted with their recent, rich improvement in form.

And they still lie just two points behind Arsenal in fourth.
