Rio Olympics 2016: Women’s Keirin first round ends in havoc as Tania Calvo, Olivia Podmore and Virginie Cueff crash out
THE VELODROME can be a hazardous place – and so again it proved after a nasty crash in the Women’s Keirin heats.
Tania Calvo of Spain, New Zealand’s Olivia Podmore and France’s Virginie Cueff crashed out of the running during the sprint stage of the race, with bikes and bodies going in all directions.
And incredibly, the Dutch rider managed to avoid a smash by cycling on the WALL perilously close to watching spectators.
