Rio Olympics 2016: British pair David Florence and Richard Hounslow win silver in the Men’s Canoe Double Slalom
GREAT BRITISH duo David Florence and Richard Hounslow have powered their way to an impressive silver medal in the Men’s Canoe Double Slalom Final.
With Florence using all his strength at the front of the canoe, the pair replicated their success in London 2012 by winning another silver medal behind Slovakian cousins Ladislav and Peter Skantar.

As the eighth couple to set off, Florence and Hounslow knew they had to beat the Slovakian’s time of 101.58 and it looked as though they were on course for gold but narrowly missed out with a time of 102.01.
Gauthier Klauss and Matthieu Peche of France took bronze with a time of 103.24.
The Czech Republic were well on course for gold which would have push Great Britain into a bronze medal position but dramatically capsized as they nearly completed the course.

It looks likely to be the end of a journey for the British pair with the Tokyo 2020 games unlikely to hold the C-2 event.
Speaking to BBC Sport after winning silver, Florence said: “It is always tough when some early runners put in such a good run.
“The Skantar’s out in a time quicker than anyone else had done in the first round and it was easy to think ‘how on earth are we going to beat that?’
“I was a bit disappointed from the C-1 over the last couple of days and we talked about doing everything to the best of our ability and leaving everything out on the course. I think we did a really solid job of doing that.”
