Rio 2016: Team GB boxers put down by Rio’s brutal fights leaving a quarter out already
GREAT BRITAIN’S boxers are having a devastating time in Rio as the brutality of Olympic boxing knocked-out a quarter of Team GB’s squad so far this week.
For the first time in the Olympic history, boxers fight without a head protector and Team GB sent its largest team of boxers for 32 years to face fierce of the Games.

However, only eight fighters still stand for a finish on the podium – but if those defeats are taken as a lesson to remember, Team GB could immensely increase their number of medals won during this 31st edition of the Games, in Rio.

This is the first time Olympic boxers don’t wear headgear, and it is fair to say they are feeling the impacts.
IOC spokesman Mark Adams said in March: “AIBA provided medical and technical data that showed the number of concussions is lower without headgear. They have done a lot of research in the last three years. The rule will go ahead for Rio.”
