Matip made contact in the box, but for Halsey it was not a penalty
1: JOEL MATIP ON SERGIO AGUERO: There’s contact in the box — but I do not think it was a penalty.
It’s a normal challenge by Liverpool defender Matip on the Argentine striker and was not enough to award a spot-kick.
Ref Michael Oliver was in a good position to see it, too.
It looked like Mane has initiated the contact with Manchester City defender Otamendi
2: NICOLAS OTAMENDI ON SADIO MANE: It looks like Mane has initiated the contact with Manchester City defender Otamendi.
If Michael does give that as a penalty, then he is guessing. And if there is any doubt, you do not point to the spot.
City star Toure can count himself lucky not to have received a red for his challenge on Emre Can
3: YAYA TOURE’S YELLOW CARD: City star Toure can count himself lucky not to have received a red for his challenge on Emre Can.
His feet do not need to be that high, he is out of control and knows exactly what he is doing.
It was reckless and endangered his opponent’s safety.

Michael’s positioning is totally wrong for City’s double penalty shout
4: RAGNAR KLAVAN ON AGUERO and JAMES MILNER ON RAHEEM STERLING: Michael’s positioning is totally wrong for City’s double penalty shout. He should have been thinking about the next phase of play, but instead was too wide.
The ref should have been moving into the box to pick up the two penalty incidents. From where Michael was, he couldn’t award either spot-kick.
I thought the pull by Klavan on Aguero was a penalty. But the nailed-on spot-kick was Milner’s foul on winger Sterling.
Had the ref got a better view of it, he would have given a penalty and had to send off Milner.
It is debatable whether the Kop left-back made a genuine attempt to try to play the ball.

5: GAEL CLICHY ON ROBERTO FIRMINO: People will say the City defender got the ball — but he has also taken the man.
I don’t think you can argue with the penalty being given. It was a tough game for Michael.
On another day he could have sent two players off.
