Benzema joined Real in 2009 for around £31million and Perez is said to believe that he has got the best years out of the 29-year-old striker.

Reports last month indicated that one of Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale – the famed BBC – would leave the Champions League winners this summer.

Now it looks like Perez has made up his mind – and that he believes Benzema has drawn the short straw.

It is thought that Benzema, who has won La Liga twice and the Champions League three times, would command a transfer fee in the region of £62.6m.

Diario Gol say Arsenal would be interested in signing Benzema.

And it is believed he could be used as a possible replacement for Alexis Sanchez, especially with Manchester City still chasing the Chile striker.

Florentino has been the driving force behind Real's transfer dealings in the past, personally demanding the signings of the likes James Rodriguez, Ronaldo and Bale.

Real Madrid believe they can land Monaco striker Mbappe in a world record £120m deal.
