But boss Stam was fuming after the home support jeered off his high-flying players at the break — just 48 hours after winning at Villa.

“But they need to support the team and not boo them when they come off 1-0 behind.

Rotherham’s 19th-minute opener summed up the home side’s woeful first-half display after Ali Al Habsi spilled Carlton Morris’ header and Tom Adeyemi bundled home.
It needed something special for normal service to be resumed and that duly arrived via Grabban’s 66th- minute volley against his old side.
John Swift made no mistake for Reading as he tapped home after being found by Chris GunterRex Features
The on-loan Bournemouth striker had only been on the pitch for 60 seconds when he converted Garath McCleary’s deep cross.
And the relief was clear when skipper Chris Gunter’s cross saw Swift tap home with 11 minutes left.
Rotherham boss Paul Warne added: “If we can make additions with that competitive spirit we will be all right next year. I’m pretty proud.”
