RAUL is now favourite to take over Real Madrid youth team after the club announced the termination of Victor Fernandez’s contract.
Former Deportivo manager Fernandez joined in September 2015 as director of the academy, but his departure has increased speculation Raul could step into the void.

Raul won three Champions League and six La Liga titles at Real during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s.
The 56-year-old’s responsibilities included training, management and coordination of the technical teams of all the lower categories and recruitment.

Fernandez’s contract was until 2018, but reports that his time was cut early coincides with the arrival of Raul at the club.
ABC.es have reported that Fernandez relationship with different coaches and players from the academy was tense, including his day-to-day contact with football director Ramon Matinez.
It’s said to be that all of this led to Fernandez’ farewell from the club a year earlier than his contract stated which will be formalised on June 30.
There are said to be several names on the table to replace Fernandez – including Raul’s – but nothing has yet been confirmed.

Raul currently in his new role with Real Madrid already has a lot of contact with the academy and training aspects.
Raul is currently the favourite as he wants to follow Zinedine Zidane‘s path, which it’s very much possible as Florentino Perez’s adviser that he will be aiming to gain some experience in Madrid’s academy.
