RAFA BENITEZ believes Jonjo Shelvey can be in contention to be called up for England despite playing for Newcastle.
The 24-year-old has made six appearances for the Three Lions after making his international debut in 2012.

Shelvey is yet to be involved with England since his move to Newcastle, but Benitez backs the in-form midfielder to return to the England squad despite playing in the championship.
Benitez said: “He is playing every game, so I am really pleased with him.
“We were talking about maybe he could play for England, maybe it was too early, but why not when he is playing as well as he is now.
