With several likely newcomers in this, take a close look at the betting. But we can only go on what we’ve seen and LIFEBOAT showed enough on debut at Newbury last time to win a race like this. He was a close-up fifth there and should learn for the experience.

PETTOCHSIDE comes here in cracking form after two good runs at Goodwood. He was beaten just over a length in third before going one place closer there last time out. That was probably a better race than this and he should go close.

RUNNING CLOUD was a convincing winner on debut at Wolverhampton last time out. He had more than four lengths in hand over this trip and should improve. Provided he translates that form to turf, he should be hard to beat.

HERE AND NOW was a game winner at Chester last time and is still improving at this early stage of his career. He has yet to run a bad race and a mark of 84 looks on the fair side.

STERNRUBIN is better known as a hurdler but he has shown some promise on the level, including when third in good company at Goodwood last time out. He drops back from 2m, which shouldn’t be a problem as he has winning form over shorter. He looks open to improvement on the Flat.

SIR RODERIC is best forgiven his modest effort at Sandown last time as he was hampered a couple of times. He had earlier gone a very close third at the same track and is 3lb below that run in the weights thanks to his rider’s claim.
5.10
MANCINI improved to finish second at Windsor last time, with a long gap back to the third horse home. That was over this trip and you would expect more progression on just his third start.
