Our first hotpot of the day comes in the 3.05pm where Ertijaal (4-6) kicks off his carnival. This speedster has won the race for the last two years and he’ll be a short price to make it a hat-trick of wins.

He’s also the track record holder, blink and you’ll miss him. He should win.

The 3.40pm is much more competitive and we fancy a bit of Frankyfourfingers (4-1).

This eight-year-old might be getting on a bit but he’s kept all his enthusiasm for racing and warmed up for this with a win at Jebel Ali. He goes well over this course and distance and has a chance.

A few familiar faces in the 4.15pm with a number of international horses. Benbatl (2-1) is still lightly raced and he looks the type to come into his own at Meydan.

His Royal Ascot win is top form and he should relish this trip.

The 4.50pm is an exciting contest but a few in this field have questions to answer. While Thunder Snow is likely to go off favourite, he has plenty of quirks and wouldn’t be the safest of options.

It might be worth instead taking a punt on Heavy Metal (7-2) who loves loves this course and distance – as he showed last season when winning three here.

Top tips for Meydan

3.05 Meydan – Ertijaal (add to your betslip)

3.40 Meydan – Frankyfourfingers (add to your betslip)

4.15 Meydan – Benbatl (add to your betslip)

4.50 Meydan – Heavy Metal (add to your betslip)

5.25 Meydan – Brave Zolo (add to your betslip)

A consistent performer who should hit the frame and can take advantage of any quirks in his rivals.

The final pick of the day comes in the 5.25pm. Brave Zolo (7-1) won a decent pot here last year and was last seen winning a Listed contest at Newmarket.

He clearly goes well here and it would be no surprise to see him notch up another win here. A mention also has to go to Salateen (20-1) who is smart over this distance on his day, although he may need the run.
