Queen’s 2016: Andy Murray sends crowd into hysterics with ‘Where’s Ivan Lendl?’ joke during Queen’s trophy presentation

ANDY MURRAY sent the Queen’s crowd into hysterics after winning his historic fifth title at the pre-Wimbledon tournament.

The 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 6-3 victory over Canada’s Milos Raonic saw the end of a successful first week back together for Murray and his rehired coach Ivan Lendl. Lendl though, did not stay for the ceremony as Murray was presented with the trophy.

Murray joked: “It was nice of him to stick around. I don’t know where he’s off to.

The Brit continued as the crowd howled with laughter: “It’s obviously a good week back together.”

Murray also saved a joke for John McEnroe, Lendl’s old adversary and Raonic’s current coach, as the American watched the 29-year-old surpass his record of four Queen’s titles.

He said: “Normally John is in the commentary box telling us what we should be doing better.

“Any time you can do something a little bit better than him, it’s an amazing feeling.
“Not that I’m comparing myself to him!

“But to win here for the fifth time means a lot.”

Raonic led by a set and 3-0 before Murray became the first player this week to break the Canadian’s serve, doing so twice in succession.

“I guessed on a few serves to get the breaks back. After that I started to get a bit of confidence on the return.

“Milos always serves incredibly well. It’s a huge serve, very powerful.

“As the match went on you start to get more of a feel of the serve.”

The beaten Raonic joked after the final that he would have had to “blow a hole” in Murray’s stomach to get his serve past him.

When asked how he would serve against someone like Murray in future matches, Raonic said:

“I’ll try to go through him.

“Maybe I can blow a hole in his stomach.”
