Multi-billion pound deals has seen England’s top flight side’s incomes explode.

And Marca reveal that Southampton earned more than Real Madrid last season — despite Los Blancos winning La Liga AND the Champions League.

The Saints, who finished last season in eighth place, raked in £125.4million from TV money alone, while the European champions got £124.7m.

Meanwhile sixth-place Everton saw their coffers increase by £130.8m — more than Barcelona, who earned £130.2m.

Atletico Madrid finished third and reached the Champions League final, netting £88.3m in the process.

But that figure wasn’t enough to match Bournemouth‘s £120m.

Leganes were the lowest-earning side in La Liga, bringing in just 35m, but that was dwarfed by their Premier League equivalent in Sunderland, who finished bottom but raked in a staggering 95.6m.

Astonishingly, Spain’s top flight is actually second in terms of revenue and no club in Serie A or the Bundesliga, matches the lucky Black Cats’ income.

Nancy finished bottom of Ligue 1 and earned just £13.8m — which is nearly seven times less than Sunderland.
