One Premier League footballer revealed: “We don’t always feel safe going in and out of stadiums — and with the world as it is right now, many of us are worried. We feel exposed.”
The Met Police confirmed it does not always escort teams travelling in London.
And a top London club source said: “We feel we’re sitting ducks with no police protection.

“It is crazy the Met Police don’t do this when so many other forces do.”
The Arsenal team coach was delayed in traffic ahead of Monday’s trip to Crystal Palace — only arriving 45 minutes before kick off.
Another source added: “When that Arsenal coach got stuck in traffic, there was not much there to stop a crazed person doing them harm.

“Sure, they will have a few security people — but that isn’t going to stop a terrorist. It’s madness the Met Police don’t provide an escort.”
Greater Manchester Police and Merseyside Police carry out escorts, while Staffordshire Police provided Chelsea with security before they got a train after playing Stoke.
It has also emerged the England team coach — and their opponents — do not get escorted in and out of Wembley.
A Met Police spokesman said: “There are thousands of high-profile people in London and we cannot be expected to protect all of them.
“We simply don’t have the resources. But we act on intelligence and are always in dialogue with clubs and the FA.”
