Postponed on a roll

POSTPONED is all set for a tilt at the King George – and trainer Roger Varian couldn’t be happier with his stable star.

The five-year-old was last seen at Epsom when winning the Coronation Cup impressively, and Varian believes he is only just coming into his prime.

Postponed seems to be still progressing as a five-year-old

The Newmarket handler said: “I thought he was very good in Dubai. I knew how much the Japanese thought of their horse (Duramente) in the Sheema Classic so that was a very strong performance.

“I think his price in the market suggested he was the most likely horse to win the Coronation Cup but you can never predict how they will win, if they win at all.

“We all know what can go wrong but we were all delighted.

“He seems to be a horse in his prime and we’re delighted to have him.

“The King George fits nicely timing-wise. It gives us a little break now and plenty of time to get him to the King George, which is very much the plan.”
