PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG admits he had his doubts over whether he would get on with Alexandre Lacazette when he signed for Arsenal in January.
The Gabon international became the club’s record signing in January, usurping the £52million paid for the Frenchman last summer, when he joined from Borussia Dortmund for £56m.
Aubameyang’s former side Saint-Etienne had a bitter rivalry with Lacazette’s old employers Lyon back when they both played in France.
And he admits he was not sure whether that tension would continue at the Emirates.
Speaking to Arsenal’s website, Aubameyang said: “My friend Lacazette was at Lyon when I was at Saint-Etienne.
“He’s a player I appreciate and was good for me when I arrived here as he’s a nice person, very positive.
“I wasn’t 100 per cent sure about him when I came here as there were some Lyon players I didn’t get on well with – but he wasn’t someone I had problems with when I played against them.
“I’m really happy to get to know someone so positive and he helped me settle into the dressing room.”

The strikers have begun to show signs of developing a promising relationship despite their side’s recent Premier League struggles.
Aubameyang recently passed up the opportunity to score his first Arsenal hat-trick by handing Lacazette the ball to take a penalty in the victory over Stoke on April 1.
