Peru 1 Brazil 0: Dunga’s side knocked out of the Copa America after Raul Ruidiaz’s controversial strike in Foxborough
PERU recorded their first win over Brazil since 1985 to send Dunga’s men crashing out of the Copa America in controversial fashion.
Brazil came into the game knowing a draw would be enough to qualify top of the group ahead of Ecuador, but Peru had the chance to cause an almighty upset and send the Samba stars home early.
Brazil’s players pose for the pre-match huddle knowing avoiding defeat would see them throughGabriel started the game alone upfront for Brazil
19-year-old Santos forward Gabriel started up front alone with Liverpool’s Coutinho and Chelsea’s Willian tucked either side.
It was a cagey start from both sides, particularly the Brazilian’s who were lacking the clinical streak they displayed so well against Haiti.
As has been the case through the tournament there were plenty of heavy tackles
But it was Gabriel who came closest to breaking the deadlock, forcing a wonderful one-handed stop from Pedro Gallese.
Peru were struggling to get high enough up the pitch to even trouble Alisson’s goal and seemed content to hope they could hit Brazil on the break late on.
