According to the Manchester Evening News, Guardiola is meeting with Ferran Sorriano and Txiki Begiristain to discuss how they can get the deal over the line.

Manchester United are reportedly ready to spend £35million on the transfer, whereas City have not so far budged on their £20m valuation.

The 29-year-old was left out of Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth on Sunday as the transfer speculation hots up – but he was in training the day before.

United are also ready to pay Sanchez a salary he so desperately wanted at the Emirates, which is thought to be around £400,000 a week, or £20.8m a year.

Reports today also surfaced that Arsenal want Anthony Martial in return for Sanchez – while others have stated United would be willing to offer him the iconic No7 shirt worn by Bryan Robson, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.

But United would be unlikely to concede that demand, with the Frenchman aged only 22 while the Chilean is seven years older.

DEJA VU Does the Sanchez saga mean Arsenal have become a feeder club for Europe’s elite?

Sir Alex Ferguson did in fact try to sign Sanchez when he left Udinese to join Barcelona in 2011.

He would play under Guardiola for one season at the Nou Camp before staying for two further years, eventually being sold to Arsenal in 2014.
