Obiang collected the ball on the left hand side of the pitch, took a few touches inside and released a rocket which flew into the near post.

Hugo Lloris could only watch on in despair as the ball hit the back of the net.

One Twitter user said: “Obiang sees an increase in market value by £50million.”

Another wrote: “Never has ‘dig that one out’ been more appropriate. What a goal by Obiang.”

The midfielders wonder-strike wasn’t enough to get West Ham all three points.

Late on, Heung-Min Son scored an equally sweet strike, hitting across the ball which flew in beyond Adrian.
