Less than five minutes into the second half, Pogba was substituted off due to a non-contact injury and was replaced by Marouane Fellaini in the 48th minute.

The Frenchman tried sprinting in the early stages of the second half but seemed to pick up the injury moments after the restart.

Pogba was helped off the field by the club's medical staff and after being replaced by Fellaini he took off his gloves and made his way to the tunnel on his own.

Whilst Blind received more attention on field, after concerns that he had been concussed, with the club medical team doing checks on the Dutch defender.

The severity of the pair's injuries is unclear after both were forced off the field.

After United progressed following a 1-0 victory, Jose Mourinho said Pogba suffered a muscular injury, whilst he is waiting for an update on Blind.

Mourinho said: "Paul has a muscular injury, Daley I don’t know, I will have to see what happened.

"Fatigue has a price but I will remember forever when I spoke with the Uefa delegate in Rostov. He told me if any one of your players gets injured the insurance pays, so the pitch is not a problem.

"And probably the people that decide the matches for us on the Monday, on the Saturday 12pm probably will think the same. If they are injured, insurance, no problem.
