CONTROVERSY has swept through the horse racing world this week, as veteran journalist James Underwood used “racist and homophobic” remarks on his website.
Underwood made the abhorrent comments in his subscription site European Racing & Breeding Digest, according to the Daily Mail.

The 89-year-old writer defended his vile words by claiming: “I come from a different age.”
However, horse racing bodies have reacted swiftly to the toxic comments.
Many have already cancelled their subscriptions to the publication and have cut all ties with Underwood.
British Horseracing Authority (BHA) executive director Will Lambe was one high-profile figure to slam Underwood.

Lambe reportedly emailed the journalist to inform him the BHA would alert the entire horse racing industry to his sick rant.
On the scandal, Lambe said: “There can be no place in our sport for such appalling views.
