Olympiakos axe manager Paulo Bento despite leading Greek Superleague by six points
CLAUDIO RANIERI has competition for the most savage sacking ever.

And to make matters worse, Bento had actually put the team seven points ahead at the time of his sacking.
The Portuguese had been in the job for seven months but was given the boot after three straight defeats.
That might seem a little harsh, but it is worth pointing out Olympiakos had not suffered three losses on the spin in more than 20 years.
Bento, who was Portugal boss for the 2014 World Cup, suffered just four defeats in all in 23 league matches.

And as crazy as it sounds, in the context of Olympiakos' complete domination of the league it is almost understandable to see why bosses were so keen to pull the trigger.
The club have won the league on all but two occasions since 2000.
Bento, 47, was the second manager at Karaiskakis Stadium this season.
Previous incumbent Victor Sanchez was sacked in August just two games in charge after the club exited the Champions League in the third qualifying round.
The club are still fighting on three fronts, with the league, Europa League and Greek Cup all up for grabs.
