Notts County 1 Swansea 1: Jon Stead scores sixth goal in six games to earn a replay for League Two high-fliers against Prem strugglers

NOTTS COUNTY hotshot Jon Stead had Swansea in a spin and earned League Two County a money-spinning replay – as he scored for the SIXTH game in succession!

The 34-year-old former Huddersfield, Blackburn, Sunderland and Ipswich striker proved he had lost none of his predatory skills when he earned Kevin Nolan’s side a deserved draw just after the hour mark.

Shola Ameobi held up the ball before releasing Jorge Grant down the right and when he delivered a low centre Stead stole in at the back post to convert from close range.

Swansea had taken the lead just on the stroke of half time when sub Ki Sung-Yeung set up Luciano Narsingh, whose low angled shot found the far corner of Adam Collin’s net.

At that point it looked as if Swansea, with eight changes from the side which beat Liverpool on Monday, would cruise through.

However Nolan must have inspired his players at the break because they came out with a new found appetite and dominated much of the second period.

Perhaps that shouldn’t have been too surprising as his side – with Shola Ameobi partnering Stead up front – actually boasted 517 Premier appearances between them, while Swansea’s XI could only muster 468!

Grant started the fight-back with a free kick just after the break which clipped off the wall and flew inches wide.

Then he headed wide of target when he was left totally unmarked in front of goal and really should have scored.

Swansea’s day was summed up when goalie Kristoffer Nordfeldt was booked just 10 minutes into the second half.

For time-wasting!
