Wright’s form in League One this season has caught the eye of Forest scouts, who are looking to recruit following Henri Lansbury’s departure to Aston Villa.

He is seen as a player who could make the step up to the Championship and could go for just £100,000.

The Gills risk losing him for nothing at the end of next season when his contract at Priestfield runs out.

They could look to cash in on a player who has impressed despite the club battling at the wrong end of the third tier.

Wright, who played in the Championship with Millwall, has 12 goals this season including a hat-trick of penalties against ex-club Scunthorpe.

The former Leyton Orient and Charlton man has turned out 41 times in all competitions for Gillingham this term, netting his spot-kick trio earlier this month.
