SEBASTIEN BASSONG has suffered an incredible six relegations in a decade.
The Cameroon international’s fate was sealed as Sunderland’s victory over Everton meant Norwich fell to the Championship for the second time in three seasons.

And as well as his two drops with the Canaries, Bassong has also taken the plunge with Wolves and Newcastle, as well as twice with Metz.
METZ 2006

IN his first season since being promoted from the academy, Bassong played 23 times as Metz finished bottom of League 1.
The defender, then just 19, saw his side win just six games from 38 and concede 59 goals in a miserable season to fall to France’s second tier.
METZ 2008

BASSONG helped his first club win immediate promotion but his second taste of top-flight action was even worse than the first.
Metz won just five matches this time around and finished 11 points adrift at the foot of the table with the worst defence in the division.
NEWCASTLE 2009

THE centre-back thought his fortunes had changed after joining the Toon for £500,000 in 2008.
But his third season of top division football ended in yet another drop as a star-studded Newcastle team proved you cannot be too good to go down.
Bassong won the club’s player of the year award and an £8million move to Tottenham where he must have been confident of finally surviving.
WOLVES 2012

AFTER two glorious relegation free seasons, struggling Wolves turned to Bassong for help — somebody should have warned them.
The 15-cap international joined on loan in January and the Midlands outfit were relegated by April.
NORWICH 2014

AFTER leaving White Hart Lane for Carrow Road, Bassong enjoyed a great season — winning player of the season as the Canaries finished 11th.
But Norwich collapsed the next season and went down in 18th the next season after a final-day defeat against Arsenal sealed their fate.
NORWICH 2016

THE Canaries blitzed the Championship the return to the Premier League at the first time of asking but always looked short compared to their rivals.
While the other newly-promoted sides — Watford and Bournemouth — enjoyed solid seasons, Norwich struggled both at the back and up front.
They spent big in January but Alex Neil’s side failed to improve and despite a 3-2 win over Everton, are down with a game to spare.
Unfortunately for Bassong, at just 29, there is plenty of time for further misery in the years ahead.
