NIGEL DE JONG received a spectacular goodbye from the MLS after leaving LA Galaxy – but it was not your traditional fond farewell.
The Dutch legend left the States on Wednesday to complete a deadline day move back to Europe with Galatasaray.

He only made the switch to LA Galaxy in February, but the atmosphere of European competition was too hard to resist as he opted to join the Turkish giants on a two-year deal.
The MLS official Twitter team decided to put together the below video to mark his goodbye with some of his most “notable” achievements stateside.
And it is fair to say that it was not your traditional goodbye as they mocked the man who helped Holland to the 2010 World Cup Final.

The 31-year-old’s contract with LA Galaxy had him poised to become one of their Designated Players at the end of the campaign.
He was due to take the place of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard who is expected to retire from the game.
According to the MLS Players Union data, De Jong had made around £380,000 from his time in the MLS.

And had he opted to stay at LA Galaxy, his wages would have increased into the millions, although the club would have been at the maximum number of Designated Players (three).
The former Milan, Manchester City, Hamburg and Ajax enforcer instead opted to reunite with Dutch team-mate Wesley Sneijder in Istanbul.
De Jong said: “I am very happy to be playing in the same team as him. He is a great fighter and someone who loves to win.
