As he returned to ground Miller’s kneecap snapped beneath him in the end zone and his then jutted out in front as his body collapsed in a heap on the floor.
The 33-year-old was rushed to a New Orleans hospital where vascular surgeons worked to repair artery damage, according to reports.
Miller looked to have scored a touchdown on the play but officials overturned the decision on the field and ruled an incomplete pass.
The incident occurred late in the third quarter on a third-down shot and the Bears went on to lost 20-12.

Vascular surgeons are trying to save Bears TE Zach Miller's leg, not just his career, per @mortreport.
Their coach John Fox confirmed the extent of Miller’s injury after the game.
A tweet from the Bears’ official account said: “John Fox confirms Zach Miller dislocated his knee and was taken to a local hospital: ‘Our thoughts and prayers are with him’.”
