Neymar starts to justify £198million move from Barcelona by earning nomination for Ligue 1 player of the month in August — but faces competition from Radamel Falcao

NEYMAR has gone about to justify his £198million move to Paris Saint-Germain by earning a nomination for the Ligue 1 player of the month award in August.

The pressure was on as the French giants almost doubled the world record fee to sign the Brazilian from Barcelona.

Neymar has earned August player of the month nomination in Ligue 1

Neymar has scored four goals in four games — and only failed to score once

However, Neymar has taken to his new surroundings like a duck to water.

He opened his account on his debut — before adding another two in his second game.

A blank followed, but he made it four in four in August with another during the 5-1 victory over Metz which saw Kylian Mbappe make his debut.

Neymar faces strong competition from former Manchester United and Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao, however.

The Colombian has scored SEVEN in just five appearances — with the weekend’s 4-0 hammering by Nice his only blank.

Falcao’s highlight was a hat-trick in the 4-1 victory over Dijon, before he netted twice as Monaco battered Marseille 6-1.
