FANS in England are often left cursing their luck when it comes to the “cost of football”.
From ticket prices and food to transport and pre-match programmes, the Premier League in particular is an expensive beast.
However, there is one area where the Prem comes out the cheapest in all of Europe… replica kits.
The cost of an average kit in the Premier League is a pricey, but comparably cheap, £52.
When you compare that to the prices paid by our European cousins, most notably Switzerland, it’s a mere drop in the ocean.
Replica jerseys for clubs in the Swiss Raiffeisen Super League cost an average of £77, far and away the most expensive on the continent.
On top of that, the priciest jersey would set you back £90, with the cheapest still £61 – higher than the average in FIVE nations.
The German Bundesliga comes in second at £71 per top on average, followed by the Serie A at £70.

The average jersey price in France’s Ligue 1 costs £69 – with Spanish La Liga jerseys averaging £63 per go.
The Jupiler Pro League in Belgium is the only other country in Europe to charge an average of £60 or more – at £60 on the dot.

The Austrian Bundesliga (£59) and Dutch Eredivisie (£57) come in next, with the Portuguese Liga NOS averaging £52… level with the Premier League.
The English top-flight can pride itself in having easily the cheapest “most-expensive” jersey, at just £67.

So while us Brits have it rough on game-day sometimes, at least representing our team with pride is just a snip of the price.
