Lukaku had long been expected to sign the new deal at Goodison Park and become the first Toffees players in history to earn six-figures per week.

That was only further fuelled when Raiola claimed Lukaku was ‘99.999 per cent’ certain to pen a new five-year contract.

However, the bombshell dropped on Tuesday has sent Europe’s giants into a frenzy as they ready themselves for a summer bid.

The Italian-born Dutch agent emerged from a taxi before entering the Lowry Hotel – where Manchester United’s players are staying ahead of the Europa League last-16, second-leg clash on Thursday.
