The England defender, called by Gareth Southgate against Germany in March, is determined to win a place at the World Cup next summer.
Keane had been tipped for a move back to Manchester United, after Louis van Gaal sold him to Burnley in 2015.
But he has impressed under Sean Dyche at Turf Moor and his place in the England squad has reflected his consistently classy performances for the Clarets.
Dyche has repeatedly denied he wants to sell the 22-year-old to rival Premier League teams.
However, the opportunity to work with the cash-rich Toffees and highly-rated boss Koeman has been too good to turn down.
