Memphis Depay faces £20,000 tax bill for importing a Mercedes 4×4 with personalised headrests after not responding to letters from HMRC following move to France
MEMPHIS DEPAY has been forced to pay a £20,000 tax bill after importing a sports car during his time at Manchester United.
The Dutch winger failed to pay VAT on a £100,000 Mercedes 4×4.

Depay failed to declare the import on the vehicle during a 1½ year spell at Old Trafford, where he irked some members of the squad with his flash lifestyle.
The 23-year-old was well known at United for his love of sports cars, with personalised headrests and loud sound systems.

And according to The Times, Depay was ordered to pay the sum before a court hearing in London on May 9.
Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs reportedly sent Depay two letters to his home in Cheshire.
But his representatives later claimed he no longer lived at the address and the Lyon winger settled before the court date.

Depay had a fleet of cars while at Manchester United, some rented and some he purchased outright.
He was warned by senior members of the squad that they were not impressed with his flashy lifestyle, that he was putting that ahead of his football.
Since moving to Lyon for £21.7million he has scored five goals, including one stunner from the half-way line.
