Hummels claimed his striking hair change was a forfeit after losing a game of skittles during a visit to Munich’s beer festival.
The Germany international defender said: “After one throw, my opponent had already knocked over more than I had in my three attempts.
“I was afraid it would look worse. It will grow out so in a few weeks it will all be over.”
Bayern won the game 3-0 to move three points clear as they move into their month-long Bundesliga break.
Thiago Alcantara opened the scoring before Xabi Alonso doubled their lead, with Leipzig going down to ten men after a filthy tackle from Emil Forsberg.
Hummels' lofted pass then helped win a penalty, which Robert Lewandowski fired in to complete the scoring.
