Mathieu Flamini joins Getafe as ex-Arsenal, Crystal Palace and AC Milan star finally bags himself a new club

FORMER Arsenal star Mathieu Flamini has been snapped up on a free transfer by Spanish outfit Getafe.

The 33-year-old was out of contract after being released by Crystal Palace last summer.

But Flamini was unable to find a new club straight away and spent the last six months training alone.

However, La Liga side Getafe have now stepped in to give the Frenchman another chance.

And with the team sitting ninth in the Spanish table, Flamini could yet have a key role to play.

The ace has enjoyed a fine career, starting out with Marseille before moving to Arsenal in 2004.

Flamini made 153 appearances in all competitions across four seasons, winning two FA Cups and finishing runner-up in 2006 Champions League final.

He then spent five seasons with Italian giants AC Milan, winning the Serie A title and Supercoppa Italiana in 2011.

Flamini then made a surprise return to Arsenal in 2013 and ended up spending another three years in north London.

He moved across the capital to Crystal Palace in 2016 and made 13 appearances in all competitions before being released at the end of the campaign.
