MARTYN WAGHORN hopes to return from injury in time to face Celtic in the first Old Firm clash of the season at Celtic Park on September 10.
The Rangers striker feared facing MONTHS on the sidelines with a torn hamstring but scans have shown Waggy, 25, could be back training in a fortnight with the injury not as bad as originally thought.
Gaffer Mark Warburton said: “It looks like it’s a grade one injury, so he’ll be out for two or three weeks at most hopefully.
“His reaction after the injury was quite severe but the scan is positive. He’s delighted.
“It was a sharp pain the first night but it calmed down a lot the following day.

“He got a knee in the back earlier on in the game, so it looks like it might have been a spasm that caused the bulk of the pain.
“If it had involved a tendon then it could have been months but it’s good news from the scan.”
Warburton, meanwhile, isn’t worried about losing right-back James Tavernier, despite interest from Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.
Warbs, who is closing in on a deal for an unnamed defender, added: “We don’t want to lose anyone but we’ve heard nothing, we’ve had no contact.
“I saw the story about a week ago but the club has had no contact whatsoever, nor has the player or the agent.”
