Martyn Meade’s Eminent has Irish Champion Stakes or Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe target

CONNECTIONS of Eminent have not yet decided whether they will have a crack at the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Martyn Meade’s three-year-old also has the option of the QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes after he bounced back to winning ways in France last time out.

Freddie Meade, assistant to his father, said: “He’s in very good order and it’s just which of the options we go for.

“There’s the Irish Champion or the Arc. I think the Champion Stakes at Ascot will be too late in the year. We don’t want to run him on bad ground.

“He’s ready to go and we’ll make a bit of plan in the early part of next week.”

Should Eminent line up at Chantilly in early October, he would likely clash with John Gosden’s brilliant filly Enable.

“You can never be scared of one horse, as they say, but she is a very good filly and would be a very tough filly to beat,” Meade added.
