A month later he was diagnosed with the disorder which was recognised after months of recurring muscular problems.
Now, following several recent reports that the German international has regained full fitness, he wrote on Instagram: “During the last few months I have gone through a successful treatment and I am back on track now.
“Tomorrow, I will start with the third stage of my recovery programme. This means I will complete the performance test and begin training with the team soon.”
Gotze also thanked Dortmund CEO Aki Watzke and sporting director Michael Zorc for their trust in him “during this difficult time of recovery.”
He added: “See you on the pitch!”
