Ajax could sign the Italian, 25, this summer if they secure Champions League football, according to Italian news outlet DiMarzio.

It is believed the Dutch giants will call on his experience in the competition if they make it through the qualifying rounds.

Balotelli endured a torrid time at Liverpool and was shipped out on loan to former club AC Milan last season, but failed to impress.

Agent Mino Raiola, who brokered the world-record £112million deal for Paul Pogba, is locked in talks with both Napoli and Ajax over his client.

Having sold Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus, Napoli are in the market for a replacement striker and Balotelli is said to prefer a move to the Italians.

Napoli, however, are unconvinced by the former Manchester City striker.

Newly-promoted Italian club Pescara want to sign Balotelli as they bid to secure Serie A safety next season.

And Turkish giants Besiktas are also reportedly keen.
