Manchester United want Fabinho despite landing Nemanja Matic from Chelsea as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen squad

MANCHESTER UNITED will reportedly continue to pursue a deal for Monaco star Fabinho despite landing Nemanja Matic from Chelsea.

The Red Devils are keen to improve their options all over the field this summer and have already landed Victor Lindelof from Benfica.

Matic will soon follow for a whopping £40million, but that has not spelled the end of Jose Mourinho’s interest in fellow midfielder Fabinho, claims the Independent.

The Brazilian was one of Monaco’s top performers last season, but it’s his ability to also play at right-back which makes him a high-priority target for the ex-Chelsea gaffer.

However, United will have to pay through the nose to bring Fabinho to Old Trafford.

Monaco have already lost Bernardo Silva to Manchester City, who also want Benjamin Mendy, while parting ways with Valere Germain and Nabil Dirar to Marseille and Fenerbahce respectively.

Kylian Mbappe is a top target for the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid following his breakthrough season.

While Tiemoue Bakayoko is on the verge of completing a £35m switch to Antonio Conte's Blues as Tottenham line up playmaker Thomas Lemar.

And after reportedly promising boss Leonardo Jardim they would not part ways with more than two first-teamers before he extended his contract this month, Monaco are sure to hold out for a gigantic fee.
