What do United need to do to go through?

Having drawn the first-leg in Russia 1-1, United have a slight advantage going into the second leg at Old Trafford on Thursday night.

Any kind of victory will definitely see United go through on aggregate, while a goalless draw would also be enough with the team progressing on away goals.

When do away goals count?

Away goals count in Europa League matches after 90 minutes, and again at the end of extra time.

United have scored one away goal so they would progress if the second leg finished goalless, but a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes would send the match to extra time.

What do FC Rostov need to do to go through?

Any victory on the night would be enough for Rostov to knock United out and make it through to the last eight.

They could also make it through with a draw, but only if they have scored two or more away goals (2-2, 3-3, 4-4).

A goalless draw would see United progress while a 1-1 draw at 90 minutes would send the match to extra-time.

Can there be penalties?

A penalty shoot-out would only be needed if the match finished 1-1 after 90 minutes and the scores remained the same at the end of extra-time.
