Team news
Hammers boss Slaven Bilic could field Simone Zaza up front rather than risk knee injury victim Andy Carroll.
That is because Diafra Sakho went off with a calf problem after hitting the early opener in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Old Trafford
Turkish winger Gokhan Tore could be fit after missing that clash with a thigh strain.
England captain Wayne Rooney and Armenian winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan are strong tips to start for United after bench roles at the weekend.
Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw are likely to come back into the squad after missing out altogether on Sunday.
Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini are both suspended, so fellow midfielder Michael Carrick's return to training is especially welcome for Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho.
Bastian Schweinsteiger may also make a surprise return after winning a surprise squad role against the Hammers.
