ROMA have lodged a loan bid for Manchester United flop Memphis Depay, according to reports.
The Italian club hopes to sign Depay until the end of the season, with the option to make the move permanent for £21million.

TMW report the Dutch winger, 22, is top of Roma’s transfer targets after ‘intensifying’ their search for a new attacker.

Depay is represented by the same agent as Roma stars Kevin Strootman and Thomas Vermaelen and could be tempted to link up with his countrymen.
Depay, a £25m signing from PSV Eindhoven in June 2015, has made just four Premier League appearances for United this season.

The Dutchman has struggled to live up to the expectations surrounding him since Louis van Gaal snapped him up.
Feyenoord winger Eljero Elia, who spent last season on loan at Southampton, last night claimed Depay should have used Tottenham as a “stepping stone” before joining United.
The 29-year-old said: “I thought Memphis first had to make a stop, first choose a club like Tottenham Hotspur.

“Manchester United are so big, the pressure is so high. He had to immediately make an impact at such a huge club, while everyone would watch him.
“Memphis accepted my opinion, but said ‘I’ll try to give my all and I’m confident that I can succeed there.'”
