JOSE MOURINHO is ready to fight former club Real Madrid for Gelson Martins, according to reports in Portugal.
The Sporting Lisbon winger, 21, starred against Los Blancos in a narrow 2-1 Champions League defeat at the Bernabeu.
And several European giants have been scouting academy star Gelson, who has been touted as the next Nani.
Portuguese paper Record claim Mourinho is set to go toe-to-toe with his former employers to sign the wonderkid.
Manchester United have a good record in signing Sporting stars, with Cristiano Ronaldo joining Nani in making the move.
Gelson has established himself in Jorge Jesus’ first team this season, scoring two goals and setting up another four.
The Cape Verde-born flier has been capped five times by Portugal’s Under-21s.
He mainly plays as a right winger, but can also play on the left or through the middle.
