Jose Mourinho had stated that 17-goal Ibrahimovic would be in the Manchester United team to play Hull in the Capital One Cup semi-final.

But with Ibrahimovic not joining the rest of the squad, he may well be rested for the game.

Wayne Rooney, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and others were among the travelling party.

United impressed in their 4-0 FA Cup win over Reading at the weekend, with Mourinho stating that he would bring back at least four big names for tonight's first leg.

"I play with the players that didn't play today," said Mourinho.

"I played with fresh players and I don't want to say anything about first choice or second choice but we played with fresh players, the players who didn't play against West Ham.

"In the next match against Hull City we are going to play again with fresh players.

"So it's easy to know our team - Zlatan, Pogba, Herrera, Valencia. The guys that didn't play today."

United fact bitter rivals Liverpool at the weekend and it appears Mourinho has changed his mind after leaving Ibrahimovic behind.

Mourinho could be tempted to continue with Wayne Rooney - who equalled Sir Bobby Charlton's all-time goalscoring record against Reading - and Marcus Rashford, who scored twice in the win.
