MANCHESTER UNITED players are PETRIFIED of Jose Mourinho, claims Paul Merson.
Last night’s 0-0 draw at West Ham was the third time the Red Devils have failed to score in their last five Premier League games.
Mourinho’s reshuffled team missed a number of chances with Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard leading the line.
Arsenal legend Merson, 50, told Sky Sports: “Every time a Manchester United player misses a chance they always run back and look at Mourinho in the dugout – they look petrified.
“You watch Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool play – and sometimes Arsenal – and you can see the patterns of their attacking play.
“It looks like there is a plan. It’s different at Manchester United – everyone is standing still, everyone just passes the ball – there is no movement. I think the players are petrified.”
Mourinho wants to make drastic changes to his squad this summer after finishing runners up to rivals Manchester City.
Luke Shaw looks certain to leave while £89million midfielder Paul Pogba could be a shock exit after appearing to fall out with his manager.
Merson reckons anyone given the boot will hardly be distraught.
He added: “If a player gets sold in summer, they wouldn’t leave Manchester United crying.
