Manchester United may have broken world transfer record – but train in car park ahead of Northampton clash

JOSE Mourinho tried to get the the wheels rolling on Manchester United’s season – by having them train in a CAR PARK.
The Red Devils recently became the first British side to record revenue of more than £500m in a single year and broke the transfer record this summer with the £89million signing of Paul Pogba.

They are valued at £2.5bn, making them the fifth most valuable sports team in the world.

But today they were snapped training in a parking lot ahead of their EFL Cup second round tie away at Northampton Town.

It is a world away from the lavish settings they are used to at their state of the art AON Training Complex at Carrington in Manchester.

United travelled down to Northampton on Tuesday and stayed at the four-star Daventry Court hotel, where a double room costs around £104 per night.

But Jose Mourinho was pictured on Snapchat making his players stretch for around 10 minutes earlier today ahead of tonight's match at Sixfields.

Manchester United are under pressure to overcome League One Northampton Town, who have a superb home record, after descending into freefall three successive defeats in all competitions.

Sunday afternoon's defeat to Watford was only the third time "Special One" Mourinho has lost three games in a row, and the first time since 2002 when he was manager of Porto.

German giants Borussia Dortmund prepared for their Champions League tie with Arsenal in 2014 by training in London's Regent's Park.

Despite questions around Jose Mourinho's management style, and amid rumours he made his players train in the car park as a punishment, the Portuguese has said he will not panic.

He said: ""I have this capacity of balance. Balance is, for me, not running around the pitch when we were winning a couple of matches and nobody sees now me being too depressed.

"I'm sad. Obviously, I'm sad but, as I was telling the players, there is only one way.

"At 10:30 in the morning, we have a training session and we have to be there. They have to work, they have to show themselves with a certain kind of attitude towards negative moments."
