Manchester United leading Chelsea in race for Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski

MANCHESTER UNITED are leading Chelsea in the race to sign Robert Lewandowski, according to reports.

German website Kicker report that Jose Mourinho’s side have stolen a march on their rivals when it comes to the Bayern Munich striker.

Real Madrid have maintained their interest in the Poland forward, 29, who they value at around £132million.

But it is believed Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes has absolutely no intention of selling the man with 23 Bundesliga goals to his name so far this season.

Lewandowski is understood to be keen to leave the Allianz Arena this summer.

And Mourinho will be looking to fill the void left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who the Old Trafford boss expects to leave at the end of the season.

SunSport told you Chelsea were looking at former Dortmund star Lewandowski, whose contract runs until 2021.

His wife wife Anna was familiarising herself with London last month when she arrived on a shopping expedition — for clothes, not houses. Yet.

And Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi has close links to English clubs.

Antonio Conte’s side brought Olivier Giroud in during the last transfer window but he has not nailed down a starting spot.

And Alvaro Morata has failed to impress since arriving from Real Madrid.

Lewandowski scored a hat-trick on the weekend as his side dismantled Hamburg 6-0.

Bayern now sit an astonishing 20 points clear at the top of the German top flight.
